Re: 1A Singapore math

Thank you, ladies! That's what I was thinking may be the case. Now just to find a used Beyond guide for a reasonable price....

1A Singapore math

There is probably a post about this somewhere already, but are there activities for Singapore 1A in the back of the LHFHG guide? Or do I need to buy the Beyond guide for that? I know there is a schedule in the back, but don't know if the activities are also listed? Thanks for your help!

Taking the plunge

Well, we've kept our daughter in public school for pre-K and this year for K. She has sensory processing disorder and is highly sensory seeking, so she is my 100% action child - non stop. She's been getting some speech and occupational therapy at the school. However, after prayer and seeing how she ...

Re: My dc wanted me to share their poems (Preparing)

Okay - so you wanted to see what my boy wrote about his lego... It's not rhyming or anything - BUT I was encouraged that at least he was writing, which just 2 months ago, he was struggling big time. Here is what he wrote: My Lego Once when I was 9 years old - I lost a lego brick in the trash. It has...

Re: Carrie or anybody: When did you work in a state study?

Our state, (Missouri) also wants a state study done during fourth grade. I wish I would have found this resource earlier, but if you google "Studies Weekly", they can provide you with a State study on whatever State you choose. It comes in a "newspaper" form for the kids, and in spite of it coming f...

Re: My dc wanted me to share their poems (Preparing)

It is so exciting to see our children grow. My ds is in Preparing as well. A few days ago he wrote a poem/paragraph about his lego that got lost and ended up all "smooshed to smithereens" It had me in stitches from laughing so hard, but I let him know I was so pleased. He has come a LONG way i...

"Igniting your writing"?

Am wondering about the book "Igniting your Writing " which is put as an option with the DITHOR pack. Is this scheduled anywhere in the guides to use anywhere? I'm planning on using CTC with my ds this fall. He is a struggling writer. I don't know if he's ready yet for Write with the Best , although ...

Kublai Khan and Mongolia (Preparing)

We are in Unit 27 - day 3 today of Preparing. It's on Genghis Khan, Kublai Khan, and Marco Polo. During my single years, I spent 4 and 1/2 years in Mongolia in '94-'99 doing mission type work. (a brief trip also in 1990) Most of that time, I lived in a very northern remote village close to where the...

Reading....for fun!

Just have to share... We have been going through Preparing, and finished a read-a-loud, "Raiders from the Sea". My boy liked it so well, and kept asking to read the rest of the series, so we bought the other 4 books this evening. (kindle version) He is now on the fourth chapter in the next book in t...

Re: Change of mind....

Carrie, I'm glad you were encouraged! To try and put curriculum together like you do, getting things to run smoothly is a monstrous job and my thought is that it only happens with constant dependence upon the Lord. On behalf of I'm sure all HOD users...we thank you from the bottom of our hearts! And...

Change of mind....

My 9 year old son is presently in Preparing. Overall, we are enjoying the journey. However, in planning for next year, I was thinking of doing something completely different than Creation to Christ - trying to pull my own materials together. Mostly because of thinking that CTC may be too difficult f...

Re: Homeschool vs. public school for special needs...

Thank you, Michelle and Lynn for your recent posts... I just dropped her off this morning at the public K and wanted to cry.... Some 120+ students in the cafeteria for my sensory child...talk about overload! We'll see how her day goes once she gets into a quieter classroom. But am really belie...

Re: Homeschool vs. public school for special needs...

I am amazed at the Lord's timing. Am still struggling, not sure what to do about my little girl's schooling and not sure I wanted to revive an old post here, but I never saw your last post here, Julie - until tonight....what - almost 2 months later! Guess I didn't "check" the notification whe...

Re: Repeat Bigger with extentions?

Just wanted to reiterate what blessedmomof4 had to say. We had started out in Preparing this year - it was too much for my ds :( - so switched to Bigger. :) He's been doing fairly well in it, but he's on the younger end. (8 years old) In Preparing next year, (he won't be turning 9 until the end of D...
