I had an attack of pain in my chest on Friday and then again on Sunday. We believe I must have a stomach ulcer, and I've felt pretty puny all week, so we've taken a break this week. Hoping to pick back up tomorrow or Friday!

My boys weren't ready to start learning letters until this year, at ages 5 and 4. We had the Letter Factory DVD and while they asked to watch it all the time, they just would not sit long enough to watch the whole thing :? I loved it, though, and if your children have a longer attention span than mi...

I think it would be nice if I had the means. Erik and Jake are on the same level, so I can see where that might help.

7mommy, We are just starting our second week of LHTH. Currently, I calculate that we'll probably finish up in November if we did one unit a week. My boys have, so far, been just fine with doing everything in one block, and it takes us about half an hour to an hour to complete the day. I would think ...

When it comes to LD, I think of what my brother went through, and then look at the fast progress my own son is making. Two totally different experiences. For children with LD, I truly believe that the *most* important thing for them is individual teaching, one-on-one. They need someone who is patien...

Well, like I posted in the main forum, this week has been absolutely incredible. A week ago, Erik didn't seem to understand how to draw a circle and now he can write his A's (and has been writing them on everything he can  ) He also has memorized "Adam and the Animals" which is amazing since hi...

W2W, what a wonderful post! I had up until now resigned myself that my oldest will always be behind and have trouble learning. It just seemed like he would. Well, this past week, he's proved me wrong and I know in my heart that it's because of the one-on-one time he's gotten with mommy that he would...

happy day

I really hope this isn't off topic. I just wanted to say that I was so moved, almost to tears today in school. My eldest has been soooooooo hard to teach all this time. I would sit with him for hours on end trying to teach a letter, or a color, and he'd never seem to retain it. But oh my goodness, t...

I have *no* expertise on combining, etc for the kids, but wanted to give you support. Basically, what I'm trying to do is "prove" to my dh that homeschooling will be the best match for my kids. He's given me kindergarten for Erik, with the option to re-assess them and decide whether he'll do 1st gra...

Thanks, ladies! Previously, I had just made sure he read, read, read while he was visiting us, he has a library card and we'd take advantage of the summer reading program there, etc. However, this year, his mama feels he needs to do something more structured, and that's why she wanted him doing the ...
