Re: Looking for support and encouragement...
W~ can you pull up some of the threads here and reviews on other sites that show that R&S covers in grades 2-8, what most other curriculums cover in grades 2 - 12? That each book really starts to span more than a year? I know I have to keep reminding myself that, and not expect that N will stay on t...

Re: Have not been on in a long while, but planning next year.
Thanks, again, ladies!! Julie - I had not thought of combining the girls. I bet my littlest would love to do school. She asks ALL the time. I've never been one for "doing preschool," but really just grabbing what comes up in live, etc. But of all my kids she would be the one most willing. I will add...

Re: Hitting a wall with poetry and being more creative
Mamabear, I do not know how old your daughter is, what grade she is in, if she has always been homeschooled, or went to school, etc. So please take my reply with that in mind. I have had some [short but miserable] seasons with my boys when they have had less than stellar attitudes toward school. I f...

Re: Have not been on in a long while, but planning next year.
Wow - thank you for taking the time to describe what is working for your families. I am getting more comfortable at modifying things to stretch my children without breaking them... but love to hear how others make it work. Both boys love to read, it is just that the younger one tires. I may have mor...

Re: Off topic question..........loose tooth
When my first son lost his first tooth I did NOT see it coming. I didn't know it was loose. He was shocked and a bit scared; we'd never talked about it. I opened my mouth and these are the words that came out, "Stewart! That is WONDERFUL! Do you know how we celebrate when a tooth comes out!? We go t...

Re: Have not been on in a long while, but planning next year.
Thanks, Ladies. Brenda, your descriptions of your girls pretty much describe where I imagine mine to be. I already decided I could add extention reading to my older son's if need be [or we can do Fallacy Detectives, etc., for "more."] Do you mind sharing more specifically the areas you see your 3rd ...

Have not been on in a long while, but planning next year.
We are having a "different year." Son #2, 7 years old and in grade 2, has been doing Beyond Little Hearts for His Glory. It is going wonderfully, just as it did two years ago for son #1. Son #1 I have been "stalling," in the HOD ladder. He did Beyond for grade 2, Bigger for grade 3, and this year we...

Re: science in beyond question and a vent
What is your hope for next year? I ask because if you do Bigger Science THIS year, if you progress to Bigger next year, what will you do for science. I have done both Beyond and Bigger and now doing Bigger again. Bigger science was phenomenal! My most favorite part of Bigger. AND when I did it with ...

Re: Trying to hang in there...
None of us have the same struggles or family dynamics, but we all serve a BIG God, whose plan is greater than ours. His hand is on your kids and He will make sure they grow as He sees fit this year. That being said, you do need concrete plans and ideas and launching off points. Chances are your 1st ...

Re: O/T: How to limit MOM'S time on the computer...ideas?
isn't it nice to know you are not alone?? We started school this past week and I have committed to turning it off by 8AM and not turning it on again until after school is done. It has made a huge difference. The other thing I JUST started - so we will see if it works - I have a small notebook that i...

Re: Books on tape
We use the libaray and I will often get the book on audio for storytime. I sit with them, or we rest on the floor together as we listen to that chapter. It helped my younger son keep up with it. I will also, often, get the books we didn't choose from storytime to just listen to in the car for pleasu...

Re: Is anyone out there from Upstate NY?
Hmmm - that will require a good deal of prayer. You don't want to seem like you are drawing people away from the LEAH group; you want it to complement it, or offer something unique, not challenge it. What is it you'd like to see most? I'd focus on one thing and go from there. Would your family like ...

Re: Is anyone out there from Upstate NY?
The post with the poor choice of words is now missing. I guess it was edited. It referred to NYers as not being known for being friendly. Charity LEAH is very activity oriented; I don't even know what else they offer. PCC LEAH has lots of Mom/Dad support meetings. Dad's breakfasts and Mom's prayer m...
