No advice, but I will pray for you & your daughter, MerryHeart! You are a mighty warrior. I can't imagine having the strength to handle what you've been doing. God's grace is amazing! Many blessings to you.

Re: Worksheets in R&S English
Hi, Gwenny! For me, it would depend on how she's doing with the written practice. My oldest son started R&S in 4th grade (apart from HOD) after struggling with LA in three other programs. We had to do some of those worksheets 3 times before he mastered the concepts, but he finally did! Prior to that...

Extension pack for fun?
Hi! I have a son going into 6th grade next year who is very interested in the extension pack books for Res. to Ref. The catalog lists these for "mature readers." Would it be ok to let him read them for fun? Or should I try to work through them rather than the listed books? Or should I just say "no"?...

Re: Sharing a God moment
Thanks so much for all your support! All of you ladies are wonderful! Seth is doing a lot better. An x-ray showed that he needed a good Mirilax treatment. Still we have gas, bloating, tummy aches, and throat problems. I told him about your prayers today while we were discussing fear of the Lord and ...

Sharing a God moment
My 7-y-o ds has been on a clear liquid elimination diet for 6 days. He is discouraged because he wants to eat, but he gets tummy aches after practically every "meal" and he has difficulty swallowing. He wants to eat more, but his tummy needs to heal. :( We just finished unit 6 of Bigger yesterday. W...

So sorry for the loss of your dad. God bless you and your family for your service to us at this difficult time. May God pour out in your laps a shaken together and overflowing measure of what you've given: assurance, comfort, attention, & encouragement.

Re: Help with narration
Hi, Jeenifer! :) Take heart! A month ago, I was as concerned as you and posted about it. We are on week 5 now. Ds stunned me with practically a word-for-word narration on Henry Hudson last week. What has helped? 1. Small chunks. We usually divide storytime into scenes and narrate one before reading ...

Re: Preparing to Build -Language Arts
Hi, Jennifer, I hear your frustration. What grade is your child in? I have a 2nd grader 2/3 of the way through the book. I used a workbook based curriculum with his older brother in 2nd grade, which never stuck. He didn't retain any of it. He was writing paragraphs, but he didn't understand anything...

Re: memorizing & CM philosophy
Thanks so much for all your help! I truly appreciate your helpful suggestions. I'm looking forward so much to doing this program that I have been making things more difficult than they have to be. We had no narration before, so I've swung beyond what the guide lays out, & trying to narrate everythin...

Hi, everyone! I'm new to HOD this month...using Bigger for my 2nd grader. This is my first post. Let me first say thank you to Carrie for putting together such a wonderful curriculum. Thank you also to all the wonderful question and answer sessions on this forum. I've been reading a lot these last f...
