Which guide would you cut short if you needed to
Okay, so I am a planner and I have been going round and round about this in my mind about which option to pursue. Since we didn't start HOD when my kids first started school, there will be one guide my son (middle child) won't finish. I have a couple of options as to how I schedule my next 3 years. ...

Re: I LOVE Preparing so far.... but a little scared.
I understand! I think you will actually find that Preparing is probably a little bit less work than Bigger. My dd has really taken charge this year and she loves the independence. One thing I have realized is that I also need to stick more to a schedule. I created one and am hoping that all goes wel...

Re: Family Rules
Doorpost has a couple good charts that deal with this. The "If Then..." chart posts consequences of not doing the rules and scripture with it when possible. That is really cool - I have never heard of them before. I think I am going to have to spend some more time on their website. Those are great ...

Re: Family Rules
I actually saw your PM earlier - sorry I wasn't on much other than to copy and paste my rules in the forum real quick. Finally my day has died down! For us - we are pretty good on consequences. I take things away and we use time out a lot. I also will spank but use that more as a last resort - mainl...

Re: Family Rules
So - decided that the duggars rules were just too long. I needed something a little bit shorter and more direct. So here is what I came up with: Williams Family Rules 1. Put God first in all you do. 2. Obey your parents immediately and without objection. 3. Treat others the way you would like to be ...

Re: Family Rules
Well - D day is here! So I searched the internet. My plan is to implement the Duggar's family rules. There are 22 rules so it is a bit lengthy but I think it is good start. http://joshuamhood.com/the-duggar-family-house-guidelines/ I basically copied and pasted them in Word and then I plan to post t...

Re: Some WG woes
Shannon It is hard if you tell your kids they are in a certain grade! My girls both started school a little early and my son late. So my 2 younger children are both very close in abilities. We have pretty much told them (and this is just us) that they don't graduate till they finish the last guide (...

Re: Family Rules
Because I do work part-time, this is one of the major reason I chose HOD. I was eclectic until 2 years ago. A friend of mine used My Father's World and she loved it. We did it last year and it went pretty well. But this year I realized that the abilities of my kids were just way to different. Plus, ...

Re: Help
We haven't done school for 2.5 weeks and I plan to pick back up right where we left off. The one thing I like to do though is make the first 2 days a half day. That way I don't get those nasty attitudes of how school is taking all day and that they are miserable. Yours might not do that by my kids l...

Also - I am happy to post my family's daily schedule but I am not sure what type of files I can use to do that. Is there some place that lists how you can post attachments the forum?
Thanks

Family Rules
So - this is sort of related, sort of not - probably more to the not. I am in the midst of making some changes in my household right now. A little background - I have 3 kids, 2 in Beyond and 1 in Preparing. I work from home anywhere between 20-40 hours per week (over the summer I work more and in a ...

Re: help me place my student
I came from MFW but switched to HOD for 2 reasons. I like the book selection better for HOD and I like keeping my kids separated. As for high school, if your husband is worried about it, you could always start with R2R and then each year there after. Then once your kids make it to high school you co...

Re: Need help choosing package for struggling student
I think the high school material is coming out every year one year at time. So they will be adding 10th grade this year and then 11th and 12th will be published in the next 2 years there after. One thing to mention though - as you look at the higher up levels, Rev to Rev and MTMM can be made to be h...

Re: Placement, phonics advice for 1st grader
If all you have completed is grade K with Abeka, then no your children will not be ready for the emerging reader set. The emerging reader set is really a 2nd-4rd grade reading level books. If you want to shift everything over to HOD, I would purchase one of their phonics books and you could start so...

I don't know if you have googled reviews of R&S or not but it has EXCELLENT reviews. I review everything about a million times before I end up deciding it will be okay to use LOL. I think you will be very happy with R&S.
