Re: Ladies I am totally overwhelmed

Just my .02...perhaps if your older DC are not available to help with the littles, then maybe, just maybe, a fellow homeshooled teenager/friend can come over for 1 hr to help out? My girlfriend (50+) does this as she has special needs kiddos and she said this is a God sent. Not sure of she pays or b...

Re: Feeling Discouraged...

Being the mother to five...yes...f-i-v-e boys...I feel I can honestly say that boys need time to be boys and explore. At 4.5 and even 5...my boys had close to no desire to sit and do seat work or listen for more than 5 mins of reading. If I so much as looked at a workbook or asked them to write thei...

Re: Sign Above the Door...confusing??

Thanks Tiffini for your input. He is sticking with the book (doesn't really have a choice-lol), but I just wanted him to know that he is maybe on the right track with what he is feeling. By the sounds of it, perseverance will be a benefit in the end. No, I did not read the book since we were so unde...

Sign Above the Door...confusing??

My DS commented this morning that the book Sign Above the Door (new World Geo guide) is confusing to him. He said the book is interesting, but the character introductions and explanations of who those characters are is confusing to him. Anyone else having similar experience? I don't want him to get ...

Re: Keeping a Record of Read Books

How about photocopying the book cover and making some notations (back) as to like/dislike, memorable characters, quotes, etc., You can either laminate ($$) the pages and make a book of sorts, or just 3 hole punch and place them in a binder. I just might do this myself. you can get as elaborate as yo...

Thanks Jennvious for your words of encouragement. I am not the OP...however I did soak in what you said. It has helped me make my decision to use Geo guide for my dc.

Re: Timelines: help! (Bigger and Beyond)

How about using index cards and an index card mini binder? Would that work? That's what I was planning on using. We have done this for vocab words and spelling words as well. The space prob is solved...but of course...no display of time line. I don't think my kiddos would care so much...(maybe my 7y...

streetsacademy...why are you deciding to not use the new high school Geo guide if you feel your dc can handle it? Just wondering. :)

Re: Running 4 Guides and Surviving!!

ncmomof5... Would you be so kind as to share your schedule? I just started a new topic asking for help with scheduling Beyond and Bigger running alongside 2 high schoolers (1 of them using HOD-MtMM or new HS guide...not yet decided),
Feel free to PM me if you'd like. :D

Thanks,

Beyond and Bigger...anyone?

Hello, Is anyone juggling Beyond and Bigger simultaneously? I would LOVE to actually see a schedule. I am bit nervous on how my day will look. We will begin nxt mth. My DSs are 7 and 9. I also have 2 high schoolers doing other levels/curric. I still need to allow parent/student time with them, so so...

Re: How to finish Beyond w/o readers

I am going to finish reading the history books with 9yo ds and pull in some grammar lessons that were skipped. Not even going to worry about the science we missed. :( We will try to get that accomplished before the month is over and begin Bigger in Sept. I believe that he is young enough that any po...

Re: Rev2Rev with 9th grader

Thanks for the encouragement and advice and sharing of your own plans. I am struggling with choosing the right course for ds. While he wants to do the Geo study...he hasn't done the 2 preceding levels. He finished RTR and quite enjoyed that one, but did comment along the way of how elementary the gu...
