Re: NCAA Questions

I thought I would add a few thoughts because this is something I have processed a lot personally. I wish there was more info or advice out there on the NCAA and HOD specifically, but there is not. Maybe my processing can be helpful to someone... Anyway, I am certainly no expert in navigating the NCA...

Re: Revival to revolution

I just wanted to pop in and give my 2 cents. My daughter used Rev2Rev a few years back. It was her favorite year of homeschooling. She has told me many times that she learned and retained more using Rev2Rev than she did with any other curriculum before that. Here are some highlights from Rev2Rev... ...

Re: World History Lit/Comp questions

Thank you so much for those links! They were really helpful. And I also didn't think about reading the week in review posts by Julie. What a gift those are! They really help others see what is required of a student from week to week. Thank you! :D

World History Lit/Comp questions

Hi! I have some questions about the literature and composition within the World History guide. How is the Essentials in Writing 11 different from the Essentials in Writing 10? I have seen the table of contents and I know that 11 includes a lit response essay, timed essay, etc (which grade 10 does no...

Re: Sneak Peek #6: New World History Guide

Looks great! I particularly like that this next year will include a literature response paper and some timed essays. Thanks, Carrie, for all your hard work in creating these guides.
Blessings,
Katie

Re: Sneak Peek #1: New World History Guide

Carrie, Thanks so much for answering my questions! Although we enjoyed the Pac Works, I am really excited to do the School of Tomorrow Biology with my dd in a few years. The text looks so much more inviting, especially because of the color. And the added DVDs will be a huge plus. I remember taking a...

Re: Sneak Peek #1: New World History Guide

Hi Carrie, Thanks for the Sneak Peak! It is exciting to see what's coming next! :D I had a few questions... In choosing a Biology curriculum last year for my ds, I looked at the School of Tomorrow. I loved the look of it, but wondered at the time if it was missing some of topics that I remembered st...

Beefing up World History in Rev2Rev & MtMM???

Anyone ever tried beefing up the World History within Rev2Rev and MtMM in order to award a credit in World History? I have read other posts about beefing up Government or Economics, but never anything about the World History. If this is possible then I could award a 1/2 credit in Rev2Rev in Early Mo...

Re: Discouragement with getting to higher levels

I just wanted to chime in about siblings being a distraction... My oldest ds, 15, started this last year using an app called iDream, which is a collection of sounds that help people fall asleep. In my ds' case, he listens to a waterfall sound when he does his independent work to help reduce unwanted...

What to do for my ds for 10th-12th

Hi all, Wondering if you could help me make a plan for the rest of highschool for my 15 yr old ds. We did HOD last year, but this year we went with MFW Ancient History/Lit because we were told by NCAA that he needed a curriculum that was (obviously) highschool worthy to be eligable for gymnastics. I...

Re: Question about Preparing

Thanks for the replies! I just noticed that on the Self-Study Deluxe History Package for the Newly Independent Reader that it says "If you have a very advanced reader, you may want to use the Extension Package instead." So it does look like you can use the package for older students instead of the o...

Question about Preparing

Hi all, I read through the Introduction online for Preparing and saw that you use the Self-Study Deluxe History package for the newly independent reader. I also read that there is an alternate schedule in the Appendix for older students. My question is whether the schedule in the Appendix for the ol...

Highschool guides - general questions

Hi Carrie, I am wondering if you have a rough idea of the amount of time it should take daily to complete the highschool guides. I realize that your estimates will be based off of a 4 day week and so there will be extra time on that 5th day to do some catch-up, but I am just trying to weigh if my ds...
