Re: A possible high school plan....

Laurel, Yes the history content is highschool credit worthy IF you do the extensions along with it. You also might consider adding in Government and Economics. We added Notgrass Gov't to Rev to Rev this year. We only did it on Fridays and occasionally 1 other day during the week. Next year with MTMM...

Re: Worldview in Rev to Rev - is this adequate for HS?

Florence and Emily,
We felt that this is 9th grade worthy. My son and daughter would resd and then discuss with dad. It was a tool to get them talking and thinking and we had lots of grest discussions!

Re: How do a page and a book go missing??

I feel your pain!! My 13 yo dd always has 80 rabbit trails going on in her brain, so she loses everything, ALL the time!! She is teaching herself violin and writing her own music as well. Truly gifted, but in the ozone if you know what I mean!!! Three different times this year she has lost books tha...

Re: Supplementing Rev2Rev with Notgrass for HS?

I agree about the bible section as well. I should have mentioned that my two that are doing R2R are not doing all the bible section. They have been memorizing Hebrews. We do family Bible study and my husband leads this. We don't really use a bible study book, just commentaries. We will continue to d...

Re: Carrie, a question about Total Health??

Carrie, Thanks so much for chiming in! It helps to get that perspective. I will be using this with my son and daughter who will be 16 and 14, respectfully. I am planning on discussing the questions with them one-on-one. Olivia (currently 13) has taken quite a few human anatomy lab courses at a local...

Re: Supplementing Rev2Rev with Notgrass for HS?

Tiffini and Florence, Here is my plan for what it is worth: Keep in mind I have a 9th grade son and 8th grade daughter who works on the same level or above my 9th grade son. I have always planned for them to do 4 years of highschool together and then my daughter will use her 12th grade year either t...

Re: Supplementing Rev2Rev with Notgrass for HS?

We did use the Source text that came with the Notgrass Government set. My 15 yo son and 13 yo daughter have been using it without any difficulties. We usually read the lesson together and then I have them answer the questions for each lesson on their own and then we discuss them. Or if it is really ...

Re: Supplementing Rev2Rev with Notgrass for HS?

Tiffini, My oldest two are finishing up Rev2Rev right now, and we used Notgrass Government and plan on doing Notgrass Economics along with the new guide next year. They have done the extensions with Rev2Rev and have enjoyed every book. My 9th grade son was not a big reader before this school year. T...

Carrie, a question about Total Health??

Carrie,
I know you said that you used Total Health this year with your oldest. Did you use the whole program? Or did he just read through the text and do narrations about what was read? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Re: How do you keep your guides in one piece? So

I love this idea with the sheet protecters! thanks so much for sharing!!! Do you remove binding yourself or have it done? Now I need to find some shyer protectors on sale! I, personally, unbind my guides myself. I have had two books ruined by Office Max. And that is the only copy/office place in to...

Re: How do you keep your guides in one piece? So

I unbind all my guides. I am not reselling any of them as I have more kiddos who will use them. I place my Guide in a large binder and put every page in a page protector. Each week I take out only the unit we are currently working on and place it in a smaller binder along with the dictation, extensi...

Re: What to do with my 3rd grader next year...

Wendi, Is there any way you could just start the slow down now with her?? Let your son continue with Bigger at full speed and have your dd7 do half speed with the left side of the page only. This would have her doing the three "r's" everyday but the History/poetry (even science maybe?) every other d...

Re: ds not getting math concept. . .HELP!

Julie, Thanks so much for the reply! I was thinking that was the case and that we would hit these concepts again. I got out my 3a and b texts and looked through them and felt a lot better about where we are at. I have been teaching it the way Singapore does and then if he is struggling I let him do ...

Re: Grass is Greener Syndrome...help?

This topic is near and dear to my heart! As a recovering curriculum junkie  , it is very hard to hear everyone talk about the great things they are using. I have learned a few great leasons. One mom's/family's perfect curriculum may NOT fit your family. This is where the "if it ain't broke, do...

ds not getting math concept. . .HELP!

My 9yo ds is in Singapore 2b. I started him in 2a at the beginning of out school year since Singapore does a lot more with mental math than the curriculum we had used previously. My problem with him is having him see the numbers in tens or hundreds to make addition and subtraction easier. He does th...
