Re: NCHE Homeschool Conference

I hate that we didn't meet up! Next year, we have to make that a priority! :) Starbucks is right across the street! :D I'm sure we must have passed each other at some point, too! lol Argh! I know what you mean: I usually buy all my curriculum at the conference. It was strange to not buy it this year...

NCHE Homeschool Conference

This weekend, I attended the NCHE homeschool conference, and it was wonderful! :D God definitely had some word for me, and I'm so excited to get our year started! Now I have to wait until Fall to do it! XD My two favorite speakers were Andrew Pudewa and Todd Wilson. But, the main reason I posted abo...

Re: Preparing Research Box -- questions

Wikipedia is a site that's open to anyone who wants to post, though. I worry about it being a completely solid site for information. I've heard of people going in and changing dates and facts just to be obnoxious.

Of course, I know of some textbooks that are probably about the same... ;)

Re: Anyone else obsessed?

Goodness, yes! I have a problem with curriculum buying, anyway. Now that I have my core curriculum down, I'm going crazy with the Readers! I have zero space on any of my bookshelves, and that's not even an exaggeration. They're all stacked on top of the books on the shelves, now. It's sad. We're a f...

Re: Math 6 TT Now Where?

You can also check out Khan Academy too. It's a free website that teaches all types of Math concepts. I can't say that you could use it as a full curriculum, but it's a great helper!

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I agree with the previous two posters: Go for it. That extra one-on-one time could be a huge blessing for both of you.

Re: Putting guide in a binder

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who's considered this. I'm seriously thinking about breaking mine up into nine-week segments. I love the idea of just putting it in a small binder to just carry around. :) This is my first year using HOD too, and I put mine in a binder with page protectors. I put the...

That's very interesting. I knew there were a few similarities, but I wasn't sure what they were exactly. I know a mom in town who uses HOD and Classical Conversations together.

I bought my copy of it through ebay. Both of these books are similar, page-wise. I'm wondering if Carrie may just substitute page-for-page with the new book. They're both equally, very cute. :D

Thank you so much for the suggestions and advice, ladies. :D If I could give you both a big hug, I would! *virtual hugs* It's nice to know that this is a common thing. I may start saving up to purchase the Preparing TM this summer. :)

I have a child who's on several different grade levels.

And I'm not sure how to make that work. I opened up the manual tonight and delved into the books and projects and I'm so excited to get started!! My concern is that some of the things look too easy, (Rod & Staff 2 is mostly review & the Dictation and Spelling seem too simple) but Math and writing ar...
