Re: LHFHG (K & 1) readings.

Cyndi, Yes, you are right that the mental sifting will come over time. However, don't expect it to happen soon! First, be thrilled that the floodgates are open and your child is narrating! HOORAY! :D Next, I'll link you to an old post where I share about the different types of narrators (just scrol...

Re: Best tips for peace, sanity, or really helpful stuff!

Oh, I am soooo enjoying this thread! I really need to keep reading. These lists are very inspirational  As you all know by my username, I have the special challenge of an "only." Pray for me!! Most other homeschool moms don't understand how I do it and folks who don't homeschool think that I ...

Re: excited and a touch frustrated

Our library doesn't have this book on cd. I was surprised. Our bedtime reading is always on cd. Mommy is just too tired at bedtime.

Re: Thankyou Carrie!!!!!

Wow, I am just having the overwhelmingly "thankful" moments to God, for blessing Carrie with the knowledge of children, their development and what kids think is fun!!! I agree! I wouldn't have expected my kids to enjoy the poems with actions every week as much as they do! They just love them! I hea...

Re: Anybody here doing LHFHG?

We homeschool four days a week. The kids have Bible study classes they attend one weekday.
We're doing Heart of Dakota three days a week, and Winter Promise science one day.
So far--only two weeks in--it's working very well this way.

Re: Best tips for peace, sanity, or really helpful stuff!

I find it peaceful to remember that curriculum guides are guidelines, not rules that must be followed. Curriculum guides are full of helpful options for children of various learning styles, and they are just that...options. If they don't all fit your family, use what you CAN use and don't stress the...

Re: Devotions in LHFHG

I was surprised by the format of this book; the limited illustrations and black and white format didn't seem to fit the age group. I'm only two weeks into this and I've been doing some editing and rephrasing as I read aloud. :D On the very first reading (or one of them in the first week) I was start...

Re: DITHOR question

I am looking forward to using DITHOR. I had been looking for a Christian character program and this looks like it will cover that very very well. :D

Re: Spelling?

Spelling is introduced in Beyond Little Hearts For His Glory. If you haven't seen it already, you could view the 1st week of Beyond in PDF format and check it out from there. HTH! Oh how funny! I used that book last year and completely missed that. We used a 100 year old book called Spelling by Dic...

Re: DITHOR question

Please understand, I am not trying to be picky or negative. I love this curriculum and I think we'll be using it for years. If my only difficulties are the titles and the unusual format of the forum.....I can definitely live with that. :D

Spelling?

Which year is a spelling program introduced? Which spelling program does HOD recommend? I'm not finding one in the catalog.

Re: Anybody here doing LHFHG?

I'm using this for my Kindergartener and First Grader this year. I like being able to use the same curriculum guide for both of them. They like the silly songs and poems. My first grader was not ready for the first grade math, so I pulled out the 2nd volume of the kindergarten math, and she's workin...

Re: DITHOR question

Oh no worries there! Just ask what the acronyms stand for - everyone has been in that boat before. I remember wondering for the longest time what "dc" stood for - I was so relieved when I figured out it stood for "dear children". As far as the names of the guides, we picked them out together (Mike,...

Re: DITHOR question

That sounded really critical on my part. I apologize. My only complaint about HOD is how difficult the names of the books are to remember (because in the younger grades they don't describe the grade level or the subject matter), and when they're abbreviated it makes it even more difficult to figure ...
