Re: video for 18 month old
Both of my children loved the Baby Einstein videos, Baby Mozart and Baby Noah were their favorites. They didn't watch much while they were that young but I admit that I did use them sometimes to have the 20 minutes to shower and get dressed. :D They are now ages 5 and 7 and still choose to watch the...

Re: Zooming out-New Year's planning
Perhaps this is why we've changed curriculums so many times  I do anticipate that as we articulate our goals it will confirm our decision to stay with HOD. This is exactly one of the reasons why I had found it so helpful. Finally putting on paper our family goals and what was most important t...

Re: Zooming out-New Year's planning
I'm going to partially answer my own question :) Last night dh and i started brainstorming about big picture homeschool goals. Then, I was reading a new book last night (Help for the Harried Homeschooler) and at the end of chapter 4 there is a list of questions for making a family profile. Good stu...

Re: In case you missed it.... Science for the new guide RTR
Oh, I am so excited! I love AiG and have wondered how to fit in their science curriculum in myself with what we are already doing. I am so glad that you are using these resources. I have several more years until I get to RTR but I am looking forward to it! Thank you for the research you do in findin...

Re: Afternoons, socialization, and a philosophy of life
Last year I read "Help for the Harried Homeschooler" by Christine Fields. It was very encouraging to me and really helped me come up with some priorities for our family. I believe that I heard from the Lord and was able to confidently make some decisions that have made our school time go more smooth...

Re: Gotta love it...
We're doing Beyond too! And the same things are happening at my house. We are really enjoying the journey with the Pilgrims. My husband spent some time in Holland so looking through his pictures and hearing him say some of the words that he remembers has been fun for my kids. I too am wanting to go ...

Re: Why I chose HOD over Sonlight
And I'm another that was choosing between HOD and Sonlight. I have also used both. The reason I choose HOD was exactly for the reasons listed. Thanks Carrie! We are enjoying this year with HOD!

Re: science in beyond question and a vent
I am doing Beyond with my 7 year old science lover this year. At first I thought that he would be disappointed only doing science twice a week and want more but now we are 6 weeks into it and I'm finding that it is still enough for him. With all the other activities, he still has plenty of stuff to ...

Re: Working the Schedule?
"We also never let the unit day be an actual day of the week." This is what we do too. It allows us to have the freedom to go at our own pace w/o the pressure of always trying to play catch-up and making sure all our boxes our checked. Especially at times like this past week, when we took a day off ...

Congratulations, Amey!! Can't wait to meet Phoebe in person!
It's so good to see you on here. Beyond is going great for us - I am so glad to have found it. Thanks for passing along your love for HOD. There are now about 6 other moms that are using it this year as well b/c I passed it along too.
