Re: Hi All :)

Thanks Annaz! I think I remember you from years ago on MFW when we were doing Adventures. I think maybe you were using the K program. I think I remember you talking about trying to get your dd to remember the fruits of the Spirit :D ! Then I saw you on here, on WP, on MFW, and now back here at HOD :...

Hi All :)

Hi Everyone, I don't think I ever made an announcement here about our new babe. I will try to send in our story later on, but I wanted to pop in and say howdy! Our little guy was born on Dec. 29 in our minivan  ! I am glad to be back on the board and I am looking forward to discussing HOD aga...

Re: Waiting on recommending Teaching Textbooks...

Hi Carrie, I was wondering if you had an update on this subject. I saw that you didn't mention TT in the new catalog. I am currently using Singapore and MUS with my oldest. I am finding it hard to get time to grade her work and was thinking TT would help to solve that problem. She would be using TT5...

Finding contentment with being at home--for children?

This was a quote from Julie on another thread. It got me thinking about how to work this out in our homeschool and I would like it if other moms could share how they help their children find contentment in being at home. I want our home to be the place that our children WANT to be. I don't ever want...

Re: Zooming out-New Year's planning

11. What "helps" may be necessary to live life joyfully as a homeschooling family? ( handicrafts/educational computer games/outdoor play things/small home library of books etc. for dc to be able to entertain themselves happily at home, etc.) Julie, Thanks for a great list. The above quote is one th...

Re: An exciting peek at a few areas of the new guide, RTR...

It's always interesting to find the needed time to write a new guide while we're underway with school full-time, but knowing each of you may one day use the guides too is a blessing to me! :D Our constant prayer is that the Lord may be glorified through this work! Blessings, Carrie Thank you so muc...

Re: for those who do not combine, a question

Wow Carrie, Thanks so much for sharing! That was incredibly helpful. I appreciate you taking the time to explain it to me. I had cut out afternoon quiet time for the older children because of needing that time for schoolwork. I hadn't really considered being able to get in a quiet time in the late a...

The boys then play with each other part of the afternoon (each one choosing a 20 min. activity that the other boys must participate in without complaint). :D Carrie, Could you please share what types of activities your children engage in to fill up their afternoons? Thanks so much for sharing!

Re: Needing direction in getting going with HOD....

Thanks Alison. I appreciate your input and your willingness to help me figure out a workable schedule :D ! I don't know if that set-up will work with my oldest dd or not. I will still have to go through the Preparing guide and leave sticky notes as to what to do and get the things into the workboxes...

Re: Needing direction in getting going with HOD....

OK Ladies, I need your insight. I have really been struggling on how to get things moving in the right direction with little ones needing my attention. I know I need my almost 11 year old dd to be more independent. So, this is what I have typed up for her. Can you all please share whether you think ...

Re: Let's share our schedules!

Carrie,

Thanks so much for sharing!!!

Would you mind saying what your children do after their outside recess time in the afternoon? Do you schedule their evenings? Do they have certain things they do or do you just give them open play time?

Thank you!

Carrie,

Since Beyond is a 5 day program, do you just go longer into the year to finish it?
