Re: Skip PH or CtC?

Dear 3greatkids, This really is going to depend on you and what you think your children need most. More of a overall history through time (Preparing) or in depth Ancient History (CtC). We chose the first route for at least my older 2. This year we are doing Preparing and next year we plan for the th...

Re: New R to R with an 8th grader

Well, I'm sure there's a better answer, but since I'm here I will try to use my experience with Preparing with older children to answer this one :D ! The Economy is your History. Your child will go to the guide & it will tell them what to read in what selected History book and they read it. The Basi...

Re: Newbie. Hello! :) With Qs of course....

Welcome! We are using Preparing this year and I *highly* recommend it! Remember, you'll still need to keep up with your CC work too! I think RTR may be a bit much with both starting on a new CM based learning schedule and doing your CC co-op..... Just my opinion. However, I am confident in saying th...

Re: Does Beyond cover states & maps at all?

I don't have the time to look it up right now, but I do remeber that my boys did make a flash card like game to drill each other with the State Names & Captials. I'm thinking it was just before you study Robert Fulton... Hope that helps for now! This is in Bigger, not Beyond I believe. :D Yeah! Oop...

Re: RTR Package Information is UP!

It occurred to me that my boys are growing up so fast. I am so thankful for this curriculum that puts the Lord Jesus right in the middle of everything that we do for school. We have so few months and years with them, to nurture them in our faith, and cultivate that faith in their hearts. I want eve...

Re: RTR Package Information is UP!

So, why don't I start with the first question on RTR... What if you have 2 students in RTR. What do you need doubles of - really? I know notebook pages for sure, but what about the Shakespeare book and the Medieval History Writing and Bible Study book?

Re: Bigger Extension Alternative Math Schedule ?

Well, it's in the Preparing guide. I am using Preparing this year, but with my 8 y.o. we are using Singapore 2. I use the schedule in the guide as a check in to make sure we're on track, but I have found that a lesson and coordinating workbook pages per day that it works out pretty much like ...

Re: Maybe this is a secret... ;-)

Yes! Carrie had posted about using this as a High School Program. It's an art approach to geography through history. Here's a link to one of the core books Carrie spoke about using: http://www.ellenjmchenry.com/id151.html I ONLY know about this as I have personally met Ellen and talked with her at l...

Re: RTR Package Information is UP!

Here's my thoughts so far: I actually cried when I looked at the book package. I really am not a crier, but I am thrilled and almost overwhelmed with the book selections. Yes, I can go a homeschool convention and pick up some of the same books, but the thrilling part of using HOD is that Carrie has ...

Re: I love the ladies on this board!

Me too! This board has been such an encouragement to me! AND so helpful when it comes to those things we just can't get or allows us to ask for help when doubt begins to encroach! Someday I am going to learn how to get my pictures out of my camera to post them to the board for weekly check in! I lov...

LOL! I am so glad that I am not the only one! Thank you Tansy for the update. Thank you good hubby too! I'll do my best to be patient! Then I'll meet you all back here on the board chat again as soon as RTR is up!
