Re: For veteran moms - Cursive

I continue to be VERY pleased with Cheerful Cursive. For next year, I am interested in a new program called American Cursive. I don't know if this will be a good fit for us or anyone else, but I hope it will be! There is not much info available, but I do know that it should be out sometime in March....

Re: For veteran moms - Cursive

After 3 days of using this program, I wanted to say I am pleasantly surprised at how much my son likes this. He is very interested in the different characters and wants to me mark where each new character start. He really likes it! He is 7 1/2 and he is doing great with the writing. I have him pract...

Re: Mystery Reading in Beyond

I might wait until your kids are a little older, it is a more difficult read. We read this last year when my kids were 8 and 6, and though at first I did not think we would like this story, at the end I can say that it was our favorite book of the year. And there is a nice movie that is true to the ...

For veteran moms - Cursive

Hi ladies, I'm so torn between Handwriting Without Tears and Cheerful Cursive. I wanted to do a regular slant cursive with my younger son, but like the fact that HWT has workbooks all the way through fifth grade. I don't want to use several workbooks with different styles. What do you all do to keep...

Elegant Cursive for my daughter

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for my artistic daughter for handwriting. She learned cursive with Handwriting Without Tears and has beautiful handwriting and she enjoys it. She has completed all those books and I'd like to keep her learning handwriting for the next few years - but mov...

Wanted to say hello for the year!

Just wanted to say hello. We have had such a busy fall this year with a number of trips and so we've been forced to do school a bit more in fits in starts and I haven't even had a chance to say hi. I've been trying to be most faithful with the basics, but what we have been able to get to from HOD "B...

Re: Balancing time with friends and school

I want to chime in here, because this is something I have been struggling with alot as well, only the other way around. I feel like it's very difficult to maintain any friendships because I don't have much free time. I do make school a priority, but I struggle to fit in time for relationships. When ...

So I'm thinking, maybe I should rephrase this question. Is anyone using Italics with success?

Italics or Cheerful Cursive?

Hi ladies. Does anyone have any advice on whether I should go with Italics or Cheerful Cursive? I would say copywork was one of the more difficult subjects for my son last year. He has worked so hard and his handwriting is really very nice now using Italics print. I was wondering what it would be li...

Re: Rod & Staff - is anything else included?

I just wanted to say how much I've been thinking about this post. I really never quite understood the reasoning behind the combination of copywork, poetry and grammar, though I must say, it's been working wonderfully for me both practically as a teacher, and in terms of giving the children what they...
