Re: LHFHG -when we are starting!

Thank you Julie and Jessi for educating me on the tool turnabout. What I great idea! I'll have to check it out. My solution also has to be toddler proof for a two year old inclined to write on walls.... I did not have this "issue" with my first ! This looks easy to pick up and put to a higher place....

Re: Loving HOD!!

We had just finished K with another curriculum that is similar in style to HOD and had jumped into the 1st grade materials and hit a snag. My ds just turned 6 in Oct. and although he was loving the challenges of the 1st grade academics, he was missing the "fun stuff." He would watch my 3 yo dd as s...

Re: Still trying to decide on math!

Hi Ashley, I use Right Start Math Level A (RSM) for my ds5 and we BOTH absolutely LOVE it . So far, he seems to carry the passionate love of math in his blood [but I think it runs in the family on both sides]. You are right that it is more expensive. And I believe it does take more preparation time ...

Re: Question about Narration

Julie, Thank you for your thoughtful and kind words. They really warmed my heart and made my day. :) On another note. Guess what I did right after I posted that?! I had never been on the doverpublications.com website so I went and wow ! I felt like a kid in a candy store looking at the " children's ...

Re: Posting Pictures

Kathleen !

Thank you for your kindness and taking the time to explain it to me. :) I am going to give it a try.

It may take me a few days to get to it as we are heading into a very busy weekend, but I cannot wait to do it.

God Bless you !

Re: LHFHG -when we are starting!

tool turntable ? what is that ?! I am not very arts & crafty so I am a little embarassed to ask (another reason why HOD is so good for me!). Please tell me more about this tool turntable. Can you attach a picture? and about the Thornton Burgess books, coincidentally, I literally just posted ...

Re: Supply List Little and Bigger Hearts

Seriously, I too, have been accused more than once of being an obsessive list maker. BUT I really have not had to do much list making on the art and craft activity boxes for LHFHG. It really is open-and-go. And if I did not have something, I was able to substitute. I just thought I should share that.

Re: Question about Narration

That is SO cute! I really enjoying reading the Burgess books too. We just finished Danny Meadow Mouse yesterday, and Greyson couldn't wait to get on to Grandfather Frog today! Blessings, Carrie Carrie, I had never heard of Dover Classics before HOD, but when I was analyzing HOD LHFHG, the Dov...

Posting Pictures

I was wondering if someone would not mind giving me detailed instructions on how to post pictures. I took pictures of one of our science experiments in LHFHG and I thought it might be fun to post.

Thank you

Re: Has anyone spiral bound their manual?

Here's one of the theads that w2w was talking about. I was looking as you were typing. Ours lays flat and is working great. (I'm so glad that I found out they had a lay-flat binding and I could press them flat without ruining anything.) http://www.heartofdakota.com/board3/viewtopic.php...

Re: A Suggestion...

Thank you, Carrie, for explaining all the care and serious thought you have put into choosing the type of binding for your HOD guides. Wow.

I did not know there was such a thing as "lay flat binding". Maybe I will have to give this a try !!! :o

Re: Has anyone spiral bound their manual?

I got the spines cut off of my manual, singapore math text, wookbook and home instructor guide. I put 6 weeks of the manual, including everything I need from the appendix, math text book and home instructor guide in one binder! That way I don't have all of the books to keep up with and can just have...

Re: What Week are you on/What are your holiday plans?

This is my first "school year" with HOD and we go at a slower pace so I don't want to take too much time off, but I was planning to take one week off for Thanksgiving and the two weeks surrounding Christ mas and New Year's. However, I may "sneak" in a few math and reading/phonics lessons (I LOVE THE...

Re: Question about Narration

Hi All, This thread is so great that I had to re-print it again, because so many great tips were posted since I first printed it! Thank you again for all the great suggestions ! I am already implementing much of it with our dear Dover classic, The Adventrues of Peter Cottontail . God Bless Thornton ...
