Mary, that is such a great idea about the digital book with added entries from your blog! I hadn't thought of adding in my own commentary---I don't know what I was thinking. I think that will be another thing I'd like to add in for sure---how our week went, things that touched our hearts from the le...

Thanks for the encouragement! I've spent the last hour scribbling ideas down from the first six units. I see so many things that deserve to go in our book. I may have to pick-and-choose from the things I've listed. I don't think they'll all fit on 2 pages! There's just such a treasure trove of lesso...

Scrapbook of the year idea I have...
I've been trying to figure out some way to reinforce the things we've learned from each unit of Beyond that we're working through. Today I think I might have figured out just a way to do that. I'd like to do a scrapbook (12" X12" pages) of our year in Beyond. Each unit would be a 2-page layout featu...

Carrie, Thanks so much for your description of the books used for journaling! I wasn't sure of the differences in the two I asked of, but now that makes it much clearer to me. It's so funny...I found a list of Jim Arnosky's books somewhere on Amazon, and printed it off. I wanted to see how you felt ...

I am so glad someone asked this question! I can't draw either, and so it's hard for me to teach my 7 y/o dgs how too. I thought about letting him take art lessons, but haven't done that yet. I really need help with art!! I am thrilled that the subject of nature journals came up too, as I was just go...

Adding in the Burgess stories to BLHFHG...
I know these are not included for the Beyond program, as they are part of LHGHG. When I realized we'd be starting in BLHFHG and would be passing up some of the things I would have enjoyed from Little Hearts, I decided to add them right in. I already had quite a few of the Burgess animal stories book...

How wonderful that you will be able to move your Mom there with you! Mine lives so far away, but I keep in touch with her daily, and I'm always sharing some little nugget of our daily journey with Beyond. I agree about DITHOR. I'm looking at it too and brainstorming how I'd like to work with it. I'm...

Benjamin West and his Cat Grimalkin
I just want to give a big thumbs up for this book. We love it! I chose it as our first read-aloud biography for storytime. Well, actually the library didn't have "Squanto", so since I did find "Benjamin" we decided to go ahead and try it. This has been the sweetest story, and it's really a blessing ...
