Economics in MTMM

We will be doing the economics in MTMM this fall....I will be adding it to R2R (we are at unit 21). I plan to do it 2 days a week and add on to it for my 17 year old daughter. What books do we need to do it. From what I could tell I need the guide, Whatever happened to Penny Candy? , and Common Sens...

Re: Seasoned home school moms-I need some advice.

What are you using for Driver's ed? Right now all we are using is the NY state book. My daughter is having a hard time understanding it so we are doing very small chunks at a time and then talking about it when I am driving.

Re: literature for 17 year old special needs child??

Thanks so much Carrie!! I will hold off on the more difficult books and go with the 5/6 pack. She is not a reader and I do want her to enjoy the books she is reading.

Re: 3rd and 5th graders in Bigger

if your 5th grader has not done any formal grammar, I would start him/her out in level 3. It is a good basic level. That is what I did with my oldest when she was in 5th grade. Level 5 is hard!! My high schooler is using it and I am re-learning things with her. Level 5 is where I am ending R&S. I am...

Re: We've gotten behind

I do. You get as much done as you can. My kids both have special learning needs so we take it slow. It took us 2 years to complete one guide and it will take 1.5 years to complete the next.

Re: Multiple ages

I agree with the suggestions of the others. I would use Beyond with the 7 year old and LHTH for the 5 year old. I would allow the 3 year old to listen in with the 5 year old, but not require it as 3 is a bit young. Next year when the 5 year old moves up you can repeat LHTH with the youngest again. :)

literature for 17 year old special needs child??

hi, I am trying to figure out what literature to get for my 17-year old daughter for this year. I am listing her as a senior this year so that we can be done with the state regs and get that letter of equivalency for her, but I plan to school her for an additional 2 years and hope to get through bot...

plans for next year....special learning needs children

HI all, I have been doing HOD with my daughter for 3 years now (grades 9-11). She has special learning needs (expressive-receptive language disorder and mildly autistic) and it took 2 years to complete Res to Ref (9-10th grades) and she is now 1/2 way though Rev to Rev (her reading/comprehension lev...

Re: Placement Advice (9th grade)

Jaime - you can use MTMM for 9th grade without a problem in NY (I am also in NY). My 11th grader is using Rev to Rev this year and I have had no problems. If your child does not have special learning needs (mine does), just do the extension books to add that extra for HS credit. There are threads th...

Re: Week in Review: April 9-13

It has been a long, long time since I checked in here. My daughter (age 16) is using Rev to Rev. We just completed Unit 16. We completed her math program (TT Geometry) and that is the last math she is require to do so she is very happy. It took her 2 hours a day to do it. It showed us down in Rev to...

MTMM....economics

My daughter will be in 12th grade next year and we will start MTMM in about Dec. By law we have to do an economic course. In what units does MTMM do the economics? My daughter has a 7th/8th grade reading comprehension level (she is mildly autistic and has expressive/receptive language disorder) and ...

Re: comprehension issues.....

Thanks for responding Laura, Stephanie, and Julie. Laura - both the 16 year old and the 11 year old have comprehension problems. I have known about the 16 year old's problems since she was very young. She was diagnosed with expressive receptive language disorder when she was 8??? My son on the other...

Re: need advice for my situation-- how to finish out a guide

I totally understand....all 3 of my kids at home have learning delays and they are 'behind' their peers. I struggle with it, but they are where they are! The youngest we put in public school for many reasons (he is 9 and completing 2nd grade and is in 'basic skills' class half the day). My 11 year o...

Re: Beyond Enough for 2nd Grade?

I used LHFHG for 1st grade, Beyond for 2nd grade and Bigger for 3rd grade. My son in second was doing well in Beyond (we put him in school in the spring but he was doing well in it even though he could not yet read at age 8).
